Hook It


There are two types of hooks in sewing machines: Oscillating and Rotary. Below is a picture of a common oscillating hook. Notice its half moon shape. Oscillating hooks move back and forth. They begin at a start/stop position when the needle is at its lowest point, and move to the needle as it rises to pick up the upper thread and wrap it around the bobbin thread.
